Many workers commute into Panama City Beach each day for their jobs. While seasonal spring and summer traffic can be heavy, the average commute time for those working in Panama City Beach is 20 minutes, compared with a national average of 26 minutes.
Some commuters from the eastern end of the county utilize the Bay County Transportation Services of Bay Town Trolley, which has an extensive route system and multiple options. The trolley offers services Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Not all routes operate on Saturday and the last trolley departs at 7 p.m. Bay Town Trolley provides a smart, economical and stress-free way to ride. As the City continues with the Front Beach Road CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) project, both trolley and bike lanes are being added to allow for a better flow of traffic.
Many of the 17 million people who visit Panama City Beach each year arrive by air. The airport officially opened in May 2010 and is currently serviced by American Airlines, Delta, Southwest and United.
