Gulf Highlands Project 2018
A Hazard Mitigation Grant was awarded for the Gulf Highlands Stormwater Improvement Project to help alleviate flooding in this area. It was done in two phases consisting of design and construction. Design included: surveying, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, preparing construction plans and permitting. Construction of this project included: the installation of two 54” RCP culverts under Front Beach Road, the construction of two concrete headwalls, junction boxes, Curb and Gutter, Riprap, utility relocations, lime rock base installation, paving, and pond outfall weir modifications. The demolition and reconstruction of a CMU wall section, brick pavers, timber boardwalk, and concrete sidewalks. The new culverts and junction boxes were installed parallel to the existing culverts and the concrete headwalls were tied into the existing headwalls at each end.
