Summer Concert Series ends Thursday
We hate it, but all good things must come to an end. Thursday, August 9 is the final concert at Aaron Bessant Park in the Summer Concert Series. And we close out this free summer series with a psychedelic party rock band out of Austin, Texas called Calliope Musicals. The six-member band was named Band of the Year at the Austin Music Awards last year.
Calliope Musicals is a cheerful band that delivers high-energy live performances focused on involving the crowd. A psychedelic squad of musicians fill in their folksy roots with a mix of vibraphone, tribal drums, bass, lead guitar and explosive vocals. The band exudes feel-good vibes that aim to swallow listeners and spit them out as happier versions of their former selves.
Calliope Musicals is a group in every sense of the word. They are truly entranced by the possibility of genuine freedom that the prospect of making music promises. They aspire to be the greatest show on earth that comes to town to delight and wow. Lock up your children or join them in running away with the circus. You know you want to…
The concert is from 7-9 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and adult beverages. Food is available on site.
Several thousand locals and visitors have attended the 10 concerts this summer, which have featured music from multiple genres from blues to bluegrass. The series is put on free by the City of Panama City Beach Parks & Recreation Department, thanks to our great sponsors: Texas Roadhouse, the Tourist Development Council, Magic Broadcasting, Pier Park and Frimet to Z Auto Center. Come out and enjoy this last concert of the year before school starts back on August 15.
