County, City, TDC working on plan to get short-term rentals open

Post Date:05/15/2020 12:00 PM

City officials are very concerned and support the reopening of short-term rentals on the beach, with safety precautions and following CDC guidelines on COVID-19 social distancing.

During a press conference this morning in Jacksonville, Gov. Ron DeSantis requested counties submit a safety plan if they wish to reopen vacation rentals. He said each county would be looked at on a case-by-case basis because circumstances are different county-to-county. He did note in his public comments that parts of the Panhandle have been minimally affected by the pandemic.

Bay County, via the Tourist Development Council (TDC), and the City are working on a safety plan which had been underway for several days. It will be submitted to the governor's office as soon as possible—hopefully today. The plan will be made available to the public. We do not know the timeframe for approval. Any information we receive will be published on our City facebook page and on this website.
