Thomas Drive lanes to shift Friday
FROM BAY COUNTY
Work continues on the Thomas Drive resurfacing and improvement project. On Friday, Feb. 7 construction crews plan to shift two-way traffic onto the westbound travel lanes, between Silver Avenue and Biltmore Drive, so that milling and resurfacing work can begin on the eastbound lanes.
Traffic is expected to remain in this configuration for the next several weeks. The Thomas Drive speed limit is reduced to 25 mph between Bristol Street and Joan Avenue. Work is currently estimated for completion this summer. The $8.1 million construction project is funded by the county’s Half-Cent Infrastructure Surtax that was approved by voters in 2016.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be postponed, cancelled or delayed by inclement weather. Additional project information is available on the county’s website at www.baycountyfl.gov.
