Keep PCB Beautiful marks one year
FROM KEEP PANAMA CITY BEACH BEAUTIFUL:
Keep PCB Beautiful celebrated its one-year anniversary at a local, eco-friendly restaurant this past weekend.
In January 2019 a group of friends wanting to make a difference in PCB affiliated with Keep America Beautiful and got busy cleaning and greening up the community.
In 2019, Keep PCB Beautiful was able to make a big impact with the help of many volunteers and partnerships with local businesses and groups. Almost 10,000 pounds of trash was collected along 48 miles of coastline and in 17 acres of parks and public land. Forty pounds of cigarette butts were kept off the beaches and out of the Gulf by installing 54 cigarette butt receptacles around the community. Through beautification events, 555 plants and shrubs and 15 trees were planted. Over 1,100 volunteers donated 6,656 hours of service with a value of $164,840 to the city/county.
Keep PCB Beautiful hosted a celebration this past weekend at Lorrie Morgan’s Spicy Hot Chicken Coop to take a moment to reflect on 2019. The Chicken Coop was chosen because they use only eco-friendly products in the restaurant. Keep PCB Beautiful recognized their accomplishment with a presentation to Lorrie Morgan, who was in attendance. Keep PCB Beautiful was also celebrated with a ribbon cutting and plaque by the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Keep PCB Beautiful is a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. The group’s vision is to make Panama City Beach a clean and beautiful place in which to live, work, and visit and to support environmental and conservation initiatives. Keep PCB Beautiful is working to clean up and green up from the streets to the beach. Hoping to inspire individuals and businesses to improve the community and natural environment.
