Thomas Drive resurfacing begins
FROM BAY COUNTY
A contractor for Bay County has begun resurfacing and improvements to a 3.1-mile segment of Thomas Drive, between Bristol Street and Joan Avenue.
In addition to resurfacing and stabilizing the pavement, the $8.1 million Half-Cent Surtax project includes drainage system improvements, widening bicycle lanes, upgrading existing and adding new crosswalks, constructing new pull-off areas at trolley stops and paving the parking lot at Rick Seltzer Park.
“This project has been a long time coming,” Bay County Commissioner Philip “Griff” Griffitts said. “We are proud to finally get it started, and we look forward to its completion for the benefit of the traveling public.”
The work will be performed primarily during daytime hours. At times, Thomas Drive will reduce to one travel lane in each direction and side street intersections will close. Completion of the project is estimated for this summer.
