Thomas Drive boil water notice goes into effect Tuesday night Dec. 3

Post Date:12/02/2019 6:50 AM

A contractor working for the City Utilities Department is scheduled to make a water main connection at the intersection of Thomas Drive and Bonita Street beginning at today, Tuesday, December 3. Completion is expected by 2 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4.

This connection is part of Phase 1 of the overall Thomas Drive Utilities Improvements Project. Although a routine procedure in the utilities industry, this connection will require depressurization of the City water system in the immediate area. Affected areas are from 8800 Thomas Drive (Camper’s Inn) eastward to the intersection of Thomas Drive and Tarpon Street. Customers in this area may experience a temporary interruption of water service during the scheduled work period.

As an added safety measure, a Precautionary Boil Water Notice (PBWN) will be issued for the affected customers recommending boiling water for cooking, teeth brushing, drinking or making ice or alternately using bottled water pending completion of the State-required, verification water quality testing. A notification rescinding the boil water notice will be issued upon satisfactory completion of the water quality testing.

Future notices for similar connections will be forthcoming as Phase 1 of this project advances towards completion. Please contact the City Utilities Department at (850) 233-5054 during weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or at (850) 233-5050 after hours or on weekends and holidays.
