The City of Panama City Beach is having several water and sewer main improvements constructed along Thomas Drive between Joan Avenue and east to Silver Street in unincorporated Bay County. Completion of this project will allow for Bay County’s planned roadway resurfacing project on Thomas Drive.

These improvements, being made by Gulf Coast Utility Contractors of Southport, are the first phase of construction for needed utilities connections across Thomas Drive in key locations. Phase 1 also includes the development of a parallel sanitary sewage force main outside of the pavement to allow for abandonment of an older main located under the roadway.

This project will improve the level of service for PCB utility customers to the east and minimize the need to cut new pavement for utility repairs in the future.

Phase 1 is divided into two parts – the first being from the intersection of Thomas Drive and Crescent Drive eastward to Silver Street. It is scheduled for completion at the end of this month. The second part extends from the intersection of Thomas Drive and Crescent Drive westward to Joan Avenue and is scheduled to be completed this winter.

Additional water and sewer improvements planned in Phase 2 include developing large parallel utility mains along the Beach Drive corridor from its intersections with Tarpon Street and Thomas Drive. Phase 2 is currently under design and is tentatively scheduled to start construction in the first quarter of 2020.
