Smokey Bear to celebrate birthday at Summer Concert Aug. 8
Smokey Bear is celebrating 75 years and he's bringing the party to the Thursday night Summer Concert Series August 8.
The Florida Forest Service will have a booth set up and attendees may visit with forest rangers who will be passing out several freebies. There will be a 15-foot inflatable Smokey on site and the real Smokey Bear will make an appearance during intermission. Children can come on stage and enjoy birthday cake and meet this famous bear.
This concert will feature the soulful sounds of Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics. The Atlanta band, which formed in Gainesville, Fla. in 2005, will play from 7-9 p.m. at Aaron Bessant Park. This is a free concert. Bring your own lawn chairs and purchase food and beverages from our local vendors or bring your own! Join us every Thursday night for a free concert as part of this series.
