Cut-through on PCB Parkway to close beginning May 6
The City of Panama City Beach will close the eastbound left turn lane going into TGI Fridays and AutoZone on Panama City Beach Parkway beginning 9 a.m. Monday, May 6.
The turn lane will remain closed until the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) conducts a Road Safety Audit to determine if the lane will be permanently closed. The City will accomplish the closing by using flexible delineator posts positioned every 10 feet.
The City Public Works Department will install a concrete island in the driveway and eliminate the existing left turn lane southbound from the driveway to create a right-in/right-out only for vehicles.
All appropriate directional and regulatory signs will be installed for safety and to aid motorists. Please exercise caution in this area. There will be an increased police presence in the area during this transition.
The unnamed intersection has been the site of numerous multi-vehicle accidents recently. In March City Councilman Geoff McConnell raised concerns about the intersection located between Alf Coleman Road and Richard Jackson Boulevard.
We will keep you updated on the status of the FDOT safety audit.
