A reminder on dog rules

Post Date:12/26/2018 4:00 PM

dog on beach

Statistics show that 68 percent of all U.S. households own a pet, and by far the most popular is the dog. Panama City Beach is a dog-friendly community with many local businesses welcoming man's best friend. Dogs also are provided room to run at two city parks and on a portion of the beach. The City of Panama City Beach has designated dog friendly areas at:

  • Pier Park Beachfront on the west side of Russell-Fields Pier
  • Aaron Bessant Park amphitheater, greenways and trails
  • Frank Brown Park dog play area, greenways and trails

For our visitors and locals, here's a reminder of the rules regarding dogs:

  • Owners are responsible and liable for the actions and behavior of their dogs.
  • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Owners must clean up after their dogs by placing waste in the proper disposal stations.
  • Dogs must be current on shots and wear I.D. tags.
  • Do not bring female dogs in season or dogs younger than four months old.
  • No more than three dogs per person.
  • Dogs and owners creating a problem must leave when requested.
  • Do not bring food in bowls or long-lasting chewies.
  • Never leave your dog unattended or with children. Adult supervision is required at all times.
  • Please use these designated areas at your own risk and obey all rules and regulations.

Report any concerns to the Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation Department at (850) 233-5045.

Panama City Beach Public Information Officer Debbie Ward can be reached at dward@pcbgov.com or (850) 233-5100, ext. 2261.
