Bird Walk set for December 8

Post Date:11/27/2018 9:00 AM

Join the Bay County Audubon Society at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Panama City Beach Conservation Park for a Bird Walk. This is the first of four bird walks in this park this season. Meet in the parking lot of this 2,900-acre conservation area for a great time of bird watching.

More and more birds are finding this park as it is being transformed into wetlands which restores the habitat for many waterfowl. More than 140 species have been identified in the park, including the black-bellied whistling duck. Walkers may break up into groups and walk the trails and boardwalks looking for a wide variety of birds.  A moderate amount of walking is required but the walk goes at a slow pace. This is an excellent place for new birders to spot the birds. The walk is expected to be finished by 10:30 a.m. Walkers are requested to bring snacks and a drink as well as binoculars and insect repellent. The event is free!

The park is located at 100 Conservation Drive, which is west of Highway 79 and north of Panama City Beach Parkway.
