The City of Panama City Beach is currently accepting applications for four Police Patrol Officer. Please review the qualifications located in the full job description included in the application packet. Applicants must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and have a driving record that is acceptable to the City’s insurance program. All positions require exams, with several positions requiring more than one exam. Do not send resume only. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must submit to pre-employment drug screening and complete pre-employment background investigation and pass physical abilities assessment. Applicants are required to provide proof of current physical (within six months) with application. Applicants will be administered a Civil Service examination for Patrol Officers and must pass with a minimum score of 70%. Must have basic working knowledge of computers; good knowledge of the modern methods and practices of police work; good knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ordinances which are enforced by the municipal police department; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; knowledge of two-way radio and standard office equipment. Good knowledge of the geography of the city; knowledge in the types and uses of firearms, communications and automotive equipment used in modern police work. Must be able to perform illustrative duties and essential eligibility tasks in a manner which is not a direct threat or significant risk to the health or safety of others that cannot be eliminated by a modification of policies, practices, or procedures of the Panama City Beach Police Department or by the provision of auxiliary aids. "Direct threat" shall be determined pursuant to 28 CFR, Section 36.208.
Civil Service Office is in City Hall, 17007 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach. Civil Service hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. with Civil Service usually closing 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. for lunch. Applications may be picked up at City Hall or downloaded from our website, www.pcbgov.com. If Civil Service is unavailable, applications may be left with front desk. Testing can be arranged for a later date, if necessary. Deadline dates vary per posting, but deadline times are 12 P.M. on the closing date (if one given) or a week before the next scheduled Civil Service Meeting. Civil Service Commission meetings are normally the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
