The City of Panama City Beach is currently accepting applications for one Police Officer for the Panama City Beach Police Department. Please review the full job description included in the application packet for qualification. Applicant must possess a valid Florida driver’s license - driving record must be acceptable to the City insurance program. Applicants will be administered the general competency Civil Service examination; this exam is taken at City Hall.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); must possess and maintain certification as a Florida State Police Officer under the Florida Police Standards and Training requirements.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must submit to pre-employment drug screening and complete pre-employment background investigation and pass physical abilities assessment. Applicants are required to provide proof of current physical (within six months) with application.
Must possess valid Florida Driver’s License - driving record must be acceptable to the City insurance program. Applicants will be administered a Civil Service examination for Patrol Officers and must pass with a minimum score of 70%.
Must have basic working knowledge of computers; good knowledge of the modern methods and practices of police work; good knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ordinances which are enforced by the municipal police department; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; knowledge of two-way radio and standard office equipment. Good knowledge of the geography of the city; knowledge in the types and uses of firearms, communications and automotive equipment used in modern police work.
Must be able to perform illustrative duties and essential eligibility tasks in a manner which is not a direct threat or significant risk to the health or safety of others that cannot be eliminated by a modification of policies, practices, or procedures of the Panama City Beach Police Department or by the provision of auxiliary aids. "Direct threat" shall be determined pursuant to 28 CFR, Section 36.208.

Civil Service Office is in the City Hall Annex, Room 214, 110 South Arnold Road, Panama City Beach. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. with the Civil Service usually closing between the hours of 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. for lunch. If Civil Service is unavailable, applications may be left in the drop box on the Civil Service office door. You will be contacted to schedule any necessary testing.
